We create timeless fashion designed to last season after season. We invest in industry-leading ethical and sustainable manufacturing. We support and give back to our community.
UNE PIECE was conceived by the ocean in Australia's beautiful Sunshine Coast. The beauty of this place flows not only through our designs but guides our approach to sustainability every day. Simply put, we want to leave the world (and its coastline) better than we found it.
We make our products with sustainable UPF50+ fabrics that are made with recycled materials. We also ensure our pieces are made in a socially responsible and ethical way. The opposite of fast-fashion - we produce our collections in limited quantities and design them to last season after season.
We use compostable and biodegradable packaging when receiving shipments from our suppliers, and when shipping your items to you. Our mailer bags are made from corn starch which will biodegrade in 3 - 6 months, unlike plastic which can take up to 1000 years to decompose.
As an independent family run business, we are so humbled by the continued support of our UNE PIECE Community, and believe it is important to give back. Through initiatives like the International Women’s Day Soirée and Praise You Art Exhibition, we've been able to support causes dear to our hearts.
We are proud supporters of The Butterfly Foundation. With the help of our community, we have raised over $13,000 for their vital work since launch. We are also a proud supporter of UN Women Australia and Call Time on Melanoma.
Our swimsuits are designed in Australia and made in China. We ensure our suppliers adhere to strict ethical regulations and are gold Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certified and compliant. This means that our garment makers are treated fairly and our suppliers comply with strict environmental standards and regulations while continuously monitoring operations for areas of improvement.
WRAP is an independent, non-profit, objective team of global compliance experts dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing standards around the world.
“Being an Australian brand - where the sun is so harsh - we want to create pieces that women can not only feel empowered in, but totally protected in,” says Founder Carly Brown.
The risk of developing melanoma - Australia’s third most diagnosed Cancer - increases with overexposure to UV radiation from the sun. Every year in Australia, skin cancers account for around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers (Source: Cancer Council).
All UNE PIECE swimsuits are created from high quality fabric that has the highest possible protection rating of UPF50+ to block 98% of the sun's harmful UV rays. Perfect for long days lounging by the pool, at the beach and being active in the sun. Of course, we recommend protecting any exposed skin with broad spectrum, water resistant SPF30 sunscreen and other sun-protective clothing for maximum protection.
